Leiden Library

Dolfing Design was asked to redesign the library space for a corporate client in Leiden, creating an area that could serve multiple purposes – a library, reading area or flex work area, as well as an informal meeting space with the ability to reconfigure for larger group meetings or receptions. Bespoke furniture designed especially for the library include custom-made coffee tables using old textbooks, a bench seat incorporating scientific journals as a feature, a large bookshelf and a bench seat that follows the curve of the wall. The moss wall creates a green space and has the added benefit of absorbing noise, as do the rubber floor, carpets and felt furniture. With a modern yet relaxed feel, the library has become a central gathering place for employees within the company.
